The image of the Professional DJ has always been a stumbling block for operators who want to run their business successfully. The public will always have memories of poor quality tradesmen from all industries and the humble Mobile DJ can quite easily get stereotyped or categorised.
Purveying a sense of professionalism to customers can be very hit and miss. Some enquirers think that all DJs are the same and that the quality of service they receive is always going to be of the same standard.
It is for this very reason that service providers across the UK have been trying to reinforce the idea that not all tradesmen are the same. It would be great to have a charter mark or qualification that potential customers can use as a reference point to help them hire the right person for their needs.
The NADJ is pleased to announce that the Association can now accept payments for membership, Public Liability Insurance and merchandise without having to go through PayPal. A new system by WorldPay is now in place and payments can now be made over the telephone with a valid credit or debit card.
Mark Porley, NADJ Chairman, said: "This is a new dawn for the NADJ and it is a natural progression for the organisation to move to a more commercial payment system.
"PayPal served its purpose, but the NADJ needs to move on and the facilities through RBS WorldPay allow us to do just that."
PRS for Music, which represents 65,000 songwriters, composers and music publishers in the UK, collecting and distributing royalties on their behalf, today announced a 2.6% rise in annual revenues to £623m.
Tougher trading conditions in the UK music market were offset by strong growth internationally and by the licensing of new online services:
There have been some suggestions on the online forums that DJs can get the specially negotiated £10m PLI policy that NADJ members get access to, for a much cheaper price. These comments have been highlighted with the insurance company that the NADJ deals with and they have categorically stated that they will not offer the policy that NADJ members can purchase to anyone else.
The policy NADJ members get access to is not currently being offered to non-NADJ members and any DJ going direct to our broker will be offered a different policy that is considerably more than the £84 per year that NADJ members pay. Please rest assured that it has taken a lot of negotiating to get the £10m PLI policy at such a good price and the NADJ will be asking for proof from people claiming to get the PLI policy through our brokers at a cheaper price.
