I initially started DJing to help pay my way through College while completing a diploma in Media Studies and then onto a BA (Honours) Journalism degree at University.
I started off my DJ career on the bottom rung of the ladder in the pubs and clubs in my home town, but I loved the job so much that I decided to take to the path of becoming a full-time DJ.
I now mainly specialise in weddings, but have performed at various celebrations and corporate events throughout the North East of England. For nearly six years I was the preferred supplier for one of the premier wedding venues in my region. However, I decided that I wanted to offer a more specialised service to individual customers, rather than work at a venue that churned out about 100 wedding receptions each year. My main competition is the Secretary of the NADJ, Colin Cook, but I think there is enough work for us both in the North East!
In the past, I’ve travelled the length and breadth of the country to meet other like-minded DJs and I hope to meet even more during my time on the Committee of the NADJ.
Cheers,
John Forbes
